Metrologic Barcode Scanner

Looking for a Metrologic barcode scanner?  The Metrologic barcode scanner is one of the best that is currently available, it provides high speed automated data capture capabilities via laser, holographic and vision based technologies.

These scanners come as cordless and handheld as well as in-counter for use with POS systems, it can even be used for remote scanning and in conjunction with mobile POS devices.

Now Metrologic is a company that is partnered with Honeywell Scanning and Mobility Inc., they have joined together to create a company which creates highly regarded scanners.  The Metrologic barcode scanner has uses in supermarkets, warehouses and various other corporations due to the fact that it comes with many scanning features not found in other brands.

One of the best features that you’ll find with their products is the “omni directional scanning” capability.  This allows you to scan a barcode from many different angles so you don’t have as much trouble getting it to register.  Additionally, there is “Swiftcode” software installed which allows for the barcode scanning via the Metrologic barcode scanner to show up in the operating system very quickly.  You can often get scan rates of 1,650 scans per second with these devices.

Now technology has evolved to the point where the scanner doesn’t even need to be wired in, it can operate without a wire due to Bluetooth technology.

These scanners are also pretty versatile in that they can scan many of the common barcode formats such as 1D, RSS, PDF417, Matrix, EAN/UCC Composite, Micro PDF and Postal Codes.
Now if you’re looking for one of the Metrologic Barcode Scanners, here are a few which you may want to consider:

Metrologic MS 9540 VoyagerCG Barcode Scanner

This unit plugs into a PS2 keyboard connection, not via USB.  This may be a good thing though as sometimes the USB scanners can be affected by USB drivers not loading up properly.  This is something which doesn’t happen very often but still, it can become costly if a cashier has even a small issue with the scanner not working as it should.

Now if you are looking for the USB version of this, nevertheless, the model number for that is: MK9540-32A38.

All in all though, this is a great handheld scanner that comes in at around $150.

Metrologic 9540 Voyager MS9540 MK9540 Barcode Scanner

This is another one to consider at the low price point of around $130 odd dollars.  It has an automatic trigger and can be used both hands free or as a hand held unit.  It has an adjustable stand, has Firmware that updates with a Flash ROM and has both short range and long range activation.

This one is a USB scanner and comes in the color black.

Now if you’re looking for a Metrologic barcode scanner, those are 2 of the better economical choices, however there are some you can get that are upwards of $300-500 if you so desire.  Just do a little searching and figure out what your needs are.
