Palm Barcode Scanner - For Handheld Scanning

Looking for a palm barcode scanner?  Whether it’s for use in an office, hospital, warehouse, department store or home based business, a palm barcode scanner is a great way to keep track of massive inventories on a small portable device.

Before you pick up just any old palm barcode scanner, it’s important to go over the individual features of each brand of scanner as well as the price tags and find one that is specifically tailored to you and your needs or your business’ needs.

Over the last 25 years, we have become increasingly effective at keeping track of products or assets as the need to keep track of it by simply counting shifted over to the use of technology which made things not only simpler but also more accurate and efficient.  A palm barcode scanner will allow the user to recollect specific product information on a hand held device any time it is needed.

A good palm barcode scanner will allow the user to make additions or changes to the current stock or inventory very easily.  The device will also be able to provide up to date information on the amount of stock on various items as well.

Now the quality of the palm barcode scanner and the features available to you are going to be directly proportional to the price, however you can usually get a decent scanner for about $1,000.  Picking one of these up is also going to minimize any inventory anomalies you would otherwise experience and save you both time and money in the long run.

As far as which one you should be looking into, the Janam series is quite popular and is also priced reasonably enough.  Here are a few of the better ones which you may want to consider picking up:

Janam XP30 Wireless Barcode Scanner

This device has the horsepower to complete all sorts of mission critical data collection type tasks while on site or out in the field.  Here are it’s specifics:

-WLAN, Bluetooth, 1D scanning, 240x320 QVGA color, 266 MHz CPU, 32MB/64MB, PDA keypad, Palm v5.4.9, 1880 mAh battery. Requires charging/communications cradle.

This one will usually cost you around $1,000 - $1,100

Janam XP20 Wireless Barcode Scanner

Here is a somewhat cheaper model which may range in price from $850-$1,050.  It’s pretty similar to the above unit except that it’s screen is 160x160 mono versus 240x320 VGA.  If you don’t care much for pretty graphics though, you may want to go with this one and save yourself a couple hundred dollars:

-Batch, 1D scanning, 160x160 mono, 266 MHz CPU, 32MB/64MB, PDA keypad, Palm v5.4.9, 1880 mAh battery. Requires charging/communications cradle.

Now if spending $800-$1000 for a palm barcode scanner seems expensive to you, you might want to have a look elsewhere online.  You can find some that will cost significantly less than the above, but of course you’ll be sacrificing some quality.
